Whether the structure of space-time is Riemannian or otherwise is a question that can only be settled experimentally. But experiments may admit different consistent interpretations. This seems particularly relevant in metric-affine modified theories of gravity, where nonlinear gravity effects may become degenerate with nonlinear matter phenomena. I will talk about this issue and about recent constraints on deviations from Riemannianity coming from atomic and high-energy physics experiments.
