Quantum Criticality in Correlated Materials and Model Systems
Objectives of the Workshop:
Quantum criticality has emerged as a main theme connecting various areas of experimental and theoretical condensed matter physics, from strongly correlated materials to cold-atom model systems. The last decade has witnessed a flurry of activities in quantum critical systems, involving, among others, insulating magnets (CoNb2O6 and TlCuCl3), quasi-one dimensional Mott insulators (organic salts like (TMTSF)2PF6 or (TMTSF)2ClO4), ferromagnetic metals (MnSi), heavy fermions (YbRh2Si2, CeCoIn5 or URu2Si2), unconventional superconductors, including cuprates, iron pnictides, and ferromagnetic superconductors (UGe2, URhGe, UCoGe), electronic nematics (Sr3Ru2O7), graphene, quantum dot arrays, and cold-atom systems. On the experimental side, a vast number of techniques have been employed to probe signatures of quantum critical behavior, especially in transport quantities. On the theoretical front, novel methods have been developed to tackle quantum criticality, ranging from intricate numerical simulations to techniques born in the frontiers of high-energy physics, such as the AdS/CFT correspondence. In this workshop, we theoretical and experimental aspects of Quantum Criticality will be explored. We expect strong interconnections and progresses between theorists and experimentalists involved.
