Quantum Gravity, Holography and Quantum Information
Dates
July 21 - August 1, 2025
Registration deadline: April 20, 2025
Registration is now closed. For any questions, please contact the organizers.
Location
International Institute of Physics, Natal - Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil
About the Event
Quantum information concepts have made a big impact on the study of holography and quantum gravity, offering new insights into the AdS/CFT correspondence and the interplay between geometry and quantum mechanics. Groundbreaking ideas, such as the Ryu-Takayanagi formula, the ER=EPR conjecture, and connections between black hole dynamics and quantum complexity, have advanced both fields and found applications in condensed matter physics. Recent attention and developments have centered on resolving the black hole information paradox and understanding black hole entropy through semiclassical gravity, with new insights emerging from path integrals, replica wormholes, and von Neumann algebras. These developments continue to highlight the convergence of quantum gravity and quantum information approaches, underscoring the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration for future breakthroughs.
Given this dynamic context, this workshop aims to foster a collaborative environment for the exchange and exploration of ideas on recent advancements in quantum gravity, black hole physics, and the AdS/CFT correspondence. Special emphasis will be placed on the emerging role of concepts from quantum information and quantum computation.

Practical Information
Location
The International Institute of Physics (IIP) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte is located in Natal, state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The IIP is situated on the university’s main campus in the Lagoa Nova district. It can easily be located using standard geolocation services, such as Google Maps.
The formal address is: Campus Universitário - Lagoa Nova - 59078-970 - CP: 1613 - Natal/RN - Brazil
Arrival
The Greater Natal Airport (IATA code: NAT) is located about 30 kilometers from the main venue. Most flights are domestic, with existing international connections to Lisbon and Buenos Aires. A new international connection with Santiago, Chile, is expected to begin in July 2025.
We recommend using taxi or Uber services for airport transfers, with an estimated cost of 100-120 BRL (Brazilian reais).
Participants are advised to secure flight tickets at least two months before the event to avoid price increases. For participants receiving travel support, tickets will be purchased by the organizers. Please contact the organizers before purchasing your tickets.
Visa Information
Most nationals from Latin America and Europe are exempt from tourist visas. Please verify the relevant visa requirements on the website of the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate General in your country of residence.
Starting from April 10th, 2025, passport holders from Australia, Canada, and the United States will require a visa for entry into Brazil. Passport holders of these countries can apply online for an eVisa. The review process is expected to take two weeks but we recommend to start this process in advance.
